ProCredit Bank, part of the German led ProCredit group of Banks, has been providing high quality banking services in Macedonia since 2003. Jovanka Joleska-Popovska, General Manager, explains, “ProCredit Bank specialises in providing a full range of services to very small, small and medium size enterprises. In 2011 our lending portfolio grew by 9.9% to €14.7 million. We consider ProCredit Macedonia to be one of
the country’s most successful banking partners for businesses and we focus on supporting good business ventures. We believe that by supporting SMEs in their development and sustainability we contribute to Macedonian economic growth.
After eight years of operation on the Macedonian market, ProCredit Macedonia has earned a 5% market share. Jovanka Joleska-Popovska says, “In a challenging environment both from a political and global economic perspective in the previous years, ProCredit Macedonia is one of few profitable mid-sized banks in Macedonia. We currently have a capital of €22 million. One of the key drivers of such results are the direct approach and understanding of our customers’ businesses and tailoring the financial services in accordance to their needs and market changes. Other drivers are the good portfolio quality which to high extent comes from the modern credit technology applied in the analysis and our strategic orientation to guide businesses towards healthy growth, rather than over-indebtedness. For such reason, ProCredit Bank’s overall risk rating, issued by the official Fitch Ratings, remained unchanged in 2011 at BB+.”
ProCredit Bank with its strategic orientation is involved from the very beginning in financial literacy and environmental projects. In addition, the bank puts strong emphasis on staff development and has established a ‘Young Banker Programme’ aimed at university graduates, who are interested in learning about ProCredit Bank’s different concept of work. Jovanka Joleska-Popovska points out, “ProCredit Bank’s strategic orientation is centered on providing excellent customer service. This cannot be achieved without employees, which besides to having skills and knowledge, are truly committed to their work.”
