Maritime-Services Specialist Helping to Protect Environment
Comal, established in 1986, has grown to become a specialist in providing diverse services for the maritime sector, particularly concerning the protection of the environment. In 2004, Comal became one of the first companies in Pomorskie province to be certified for the recovery and disposal of hazardous waste. Last year, Comal opened a cutting-edge reloading and storage terminal for petroleum products.
Comal has acquired advanced equipment, facilities and technologies to offer a wide range of services, including storage and handling of petroleum and other products; storage of fuels and oils for ship repair and conversion; receiving, treating and disposing of oily water, bilge water, sewage, waste and sludge oil; managing petroleum-contaminated soil; maritime and road transport, including of hazardous materials; maintenance and painting of ocean-going vessels; and cleaning vessels, tanks, rail tankers, trucks, and steel and concrete surfaces.
Fleet of tank barges
One of Comal’s competitive advantages is that it owns its own fleet of tank barges with 5,500 cubic metres of total storage space for light fuels and 2,300 cubic metres of storage for heavy fuels and oils. Comal also has its own waste water-treatment plant and can collect sewage from the sea. Comal operates a sewage-treatment facility on an island near Gdansk to treat sewage from ships coming to Gdansk port, Gdynia, and smaller ports in the area.
Comal’s customers include shipyards and refineries throughout the Gdansk region and beyond, and Comal has a contract with Gdansk Port Authority to collect oil waste from ships in the port. Comal performing essential services and protecting the environment.
