Ramada Plaza Craiova is part of the Wyndham Group, the largest hospitality group in the world, composed of 12 other Ramada hotels in Romania and two more under planning. With the support from investors who recognised its potential, Ramada Plaza Craiova achieved the goal of becoming a trendsetter in the hospitality sector and is currently the best hotel in the region. “Being part of the is the largest international hotel network in Romania, we aim to be more than a hotel not just for Craiova, but also for the entire Oltenia region”, General Manager Lia Suciu explains, pointing out that the company wishes to improve the social and the economic life in the community.
The luxurious hotel opened in 2015, and its special services offer guests a captivating experience of the city, providing gastronomic delights prepared by the Executive Chef of the Ellipse Restaurant, as well as enjoyment on the summer terrace. The hotel also offers an exceptional location for relaxation and meditation at their Urban Oasis Spa and Wellness. Their skilled staff aims to help the community not just by providing excellent services to their guests, but also by creating a hospitality school. As Lia Suciu points out, “The idea is to develop specialists in the hospitality industry in our truly beautiful country.” She wishes to see the whole country prosper, not just the city of Craiova. “We are confident that we are the hotel of choice in Craiova, but I want to see the whole industry grow”, Lia Suciu adds.
Ramada Plaza Craiova is dedicated to the promotion of the city, especially when it comes to highlighting its qualities as a leisure destination. “Craiova is a business town. Few people come here for leisure although the city has a rich cultural life” Lia Suciu says. Aiming to change this perception, Ramada Plaza Craiova is working with several places near the city which are attractive for tourists. There are many places near Craiova that have a tremendous potential as tourist attractions, and the hotel’s management is planning to promote them in order to attract more tourists. “These sites can help us promote Craiova, as we will arrange the tours”, Lia Suciu adds. Besides the hotel, the management is also active in the field of education, changing the way that people conduct their everyday business. Lia Suciu emphasises, “We have an internship program where students are learning about different sectors of the hospitality industry both throughtheory and practice”.
Ramada Plaza Craiova treats their competition as business partners, and their objective is to help the city to prosper. Nevertheless, the hotel is ahead of its competitors as a result of their niche feature of doing everything as fast as possible, while keeping a constant focus on making sure their guests enjoy their stay. The hotel is continually improving their services for business travellers, and as Lia Suciu says, “We are happy to personally devote our time to give an enjoyable stay to our business guests. We have even achieved a boutique hotel experience”. In addition to ensuring that all of their services are well planned so that their guests can recommend them to friends and family, the hotel’s primary goal is to achieve a feeling of immediate satisfaction and well-being for every person who steps inside, which makes a long lasting impression, even after they leave. “I hope every single person will have the same positive feeling in this hotel as I had when I first came here. Everyone was smiling; there was an overall feeling of good energy and happy guests. We succeed in meeting their expectations. Here they find a place with a big heart”, the General Manager points out.
As a way of showing respect to the community and the city of Craiova, after the hotel was remodelled, several of its rooms were named after famous Romanian people. “Constantin Brancus is the name of our ballroom. We also named conference and meeting rooms after Amza Pelea, Henri Coanda and Nicolae Titulescu”, Lia Suciu explains. Therefore, it is no wonder that Ramada Plaza is a local and national pride of the Romanian hospitality sector.
